Waste is a major environmental pollution issue today, with the world generating 139 million metric tons of single-use plastic waste in 2021, an increase of 6 million metric tons from 2019 (Laia, 2023). Indonesia is the second-largest producer of marine plastic waste globally, and research shows that 23% of fish samples from Paotere Market in Makassar contain plastic (Fauzi, 2019). This pollution threatens environmental balance, human health, and economic sustainability. To address this issue, 'RENEWA' was established by a group of students to reduce plastic waste by recycling it into valuable art pieces such as reusable crochet shopping bags. Located in Bandung since 2024.

Plastic bag waste refers to discarded plastic bags used for carrying goods. They are non-biodegradable and contribute to environmental pollution if not properly managed. Efforts to reduce this waste include promoting reusable bags and implementing recycling programs.
Waste PET bottles are discarded plastic bottles made from polyethylene terephthalate. They contribute to environmental pollution if not properly managed. However, they are highly recyclable and can be collected, cleaned, and processed into new products, helping to reduce plastic waste and conserve resources.
